This month’s Speakers are Dr. Keith Molenaar, who will present an informative Introduction to the Construction Industry Institute (CII ) and John Zimmerman who will present information on CII’s Project Definition Rating Index for Industrial Projects.Dr. Keith Molenaar is a returning speaker and professor from the University of Colorado Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. John Zimmerman is currently the Engineering Quality Manager for the Jacobs Denver Office. John has over 30 years experience in the Environmental Remediation and Engineering fields, serving as Project Manager, Program Manager, and Operations Manager.

Elements of the Project Planning & Scheduling Process

TOPIC - Elements of the Project Planning & Scheduling Process
By- Mr. Robert VanGundy, PMP, PSP

The objective of this presentation is to provide AACE-RMS members and guests the elements involved in the Project Planning and Scheduling Process with application to the AACE Total Cost Management (TCM) Principles. Presentation will include definitions, planning and scheduling concepts and tools, steps used in project planning and scheduling, best practices, and some lessons learned. This will be an interactive presentation and audience participation is encouraged. This would be a good overview and review for the AACE Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) Certification exam.

Mr. Van Gundy is a seasoned project management professional with over 27 years of project management and project controls experience. Mr. Van Gundy holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) Certification from AACE. Mr. Van Gundy passed the first PSP certification exam offered by AACE and holds Certificate No. 34. Project experience ranges from small to the very large and complex with total project dollar values ranging in the thousands to over 1 billion dollars. Mr. Van Gundy is employed by Earth Tech AECOM as a Senior Projects Controls Professional starting in November, 2004. Previous employers include Harrison Western Corporation, URS, Edward Kraemer and Sons, Weston, and Rust Environmental.

September Meeting - Construction West Corridor

TOPIC – Current Construction of the West Corridor

This month’s Speaker will be from FasTracks and will discussing the current status of the Program/Project. Focus will be on the current construction of the West Corridor. The West Corridor will be a 12.1-mile light rail transit corridor between the Denver Union Station in downtown Denver and the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden, serving Denver, Lakewood, the Denver Federal Center, Golden and Jeffco. Construction on the West Corridor will have major impacts on residents, businesses and commuters. Over the next four years $10/million per month of construction will take place.

The construction will include:
- 18 Bridges
- 3 tunnels
- 12 stations
- 115 retaining walls
- 16,000 feet of noise walls
- 21 at-grade crossings
- Infrastructure including major drainage changes
- All electrical/systems/communication components
- 9 miles double-track & 3 miles single-track light rail
- Some parking facilities

SEMA Construction, a leader in Colorado Heavy/highway construction, is seeking a full-time scheduler with experience in the transportation industry to work in our main office in Centennial, CO supporting projects throughout the state. The ideal candidate would have experience on both state and federal Department of Transportation projects, and knowledge of Primavera Project Manager version 6.0.

The successful candidate will create initial schedules as needed during project bidding and, upon successful award, would create the original baseline schedule and guide it through owner acceptance. After acceptance, the candidate would be available to the project manager as necessary to perform updates, logic corrections and changes up to and including revised baseline development. Additionally, he or she would be available to perform Time Impact Analysis on any delays for which SEMA may be entitled to contract time extension or recovery of time-related overhead.

SEMA’s salary and benefits are very competitive. Below is a summary:
· Base salary, DOE
· Project performance-based bonus structure
· Company vehicle, with fuel card and insurance provided
